Unisolar are the best known manufacturer of modern 'thin-film' solar panels. They use a very thin layer of vacuum-deposited amorphous silicon to create the solar cell, rather than the big clunky chunks of silicon crystal found in older panels.
The 5 watt panel is the smallest in their range - but the price is pretty small too. However, you certainly get value for your money, because the build quality of UniSolar panels is excellent. With the durable tefzel coating over the panel rather than fragile glass, it would take a pretty hard thrashing to stop this little baby producing power.
The price is for a pack of two solar panels. Each panel has a nominal voltage of 12V, so for 24V systems you need to wire them in series.
Single Unisolar US5 solar panels are available from our parent company, Midsummer Energy.
